    good.

Sounds great and congrats to you. I was totally surprised to lose 5
lbs the first day. It really freaked me out. I am assuming that you
started on the first of the year. Is that correct? Good luck to you. I
also started the first of the year. I did it for about a week and a
half then I went off it for Christmas. ;-)

this is my 3rd time around. I started in 1999 lost 30 lbs and even tho I was
trying to prevent it, I got pregnant with S#2. I got HUGE! and Jan 16 2003
I went back on Atkins, lost 12 lbs on induction, and reached 144 by
Thanksgiving, my DH was diagnosed with incurable cancer and I started having
a cheat here and there, then the exercise stopped (or should I say I stopped
exercising) and got back up to 170 over a year period. Now that it has been
1 yr and 2 days since his diagnosis I am ready to get back to me a little
bit. It does work if you do it right.

    best wishes

I totally agree...every time I lose water weight (like once a month at my
TOM) I get excited. Maybe it's not fat loss, but it's nothing I wanted to
    carry around, anyway!

  5. got on the scale this morning
161.5. man, my liver was full up on gycogen and water. I am not dehydrated
either. My Tanita does bf% and I use that as a trend for how hydrated I am
    or not.

Thanks, Rosie! I haven't lost any weight since November or so, but after
reading articles on leptin posted by DJ Delorie, I'm excited to try
zig-zagging my WOE a bit to see if that knocks my body into a new
weight-loss phase. I'll continue working out with cardio and resistance
    training 5x a week, too.

Your kudos feels like a real pat on the back, thanks again!

  7. Isn't it great when the floodgates open up. :-)

here. My ketosticks are OLD so I think I'll buy a new box today.

    170/160/145

FYI you're the first to trigger the GOAL! flag on the new
    robochallenge :-)

You can restart (or recalibrate) the robo-challenge with the
"month-start" tag if you want to. "month-start:160" resets the
starting weight to your current weight, for example. Or you can just
change the monthly-goal to something more than the default 5lbs.

Assuming you're paying attention to the robochallenge at all, of
    course.

  11. I don't even understand the robo-challenge <g>

The robochallenge is a software program that reads the newsgoup and
    notices these lines:

    Quoted message said:

    170/160/145

It then uses those lines to do what Carol Ann used to do manually for
the monthly 5 lb challenge. Which is, it keeps track of your monthly
progress and congratulates you when you reach your goals.

The results end up here: http://www.delorie.com/health/asdlc/

Since it's a program doing the work, and not Carol Ann, Carol Ann gets
to take a break and spend quality time with her family, and the rest
of us don't have to wonder if she's on vacation ;-)

Does Robo come after us if we don't succeed? Chasing us down the low

I think the most you can expect is a "try harder next time" email[*]. If
you find *either* of my machines in the supermarket, I want to know! ;-)

[*] I better not say that loud enough for them to hear, they might
    actually do it.
