I have the hoffman sole mate pedals and I really like them. They are
nice because you cannot strip out the pedal body. I have the orange
ones, it says they are peach but they are orange.

Spencer- Would you say that they are grippy enough for trials?

I'm also interested in the Animal Hamilton pedals, and whether or not
they would be grippy enough for trials.

The animals are definateely grippy. they have those realy sharp kind of
pins. only thing is, if you crush one, they would be hard to get out.
that would be a small concern as it is kinda unlikely you could bend a
pin easily.

most pedals are grippy enpugh for trials. according to him they are
grippier than jimmy cs so that would mean yes/

Awesome. I'm in the market for some new pedals. I grab and grind with a
grindplate, so I doubt I'll break the pins. Nice price on them too🙂

ide say get the hoffman sole mates because off there pin design as
spencer said you cant strip the pins out wich ive done on other pedals
althou I havent used these pedals yey but im getting them soon
ps ive tried the odesey jim c pedals and there nothing special there
heavier than most pedals they grip ok and there strong

Well yeah, my brand new Hoffman pedals grip better than my old, used
and pedal grabbed on Jimmy C's that I got from Evan.

They come with an extra set of pins so you can pick between short pins
or long pins. I am riding the short ones and they are still pretty
grippy. I think they are the same pins as the Jimmy C's. The Hoffmans
are lighter though.

I'm also very curious about the hamiltons.

Does anyone know what the weight differences are between the hamilton's
and the J.C.'s?

Does anyone know which is a better pedal?

All I've been riding are J.C.'s...and I'm thinking of switching to
something with a little more grip, as strong/stronger, the same weight
or possibly lighter...without having to spend a ton of money. I'd
rather not spend that much money on pedals, because of how much beating
they take. Something's that's just going to get beat up, especially
from pedal grabs, is not worth more than spending $50 USD on, in my
opinion.

I got a set of Animal Hamilton pedals the other week, I find they are
really good for trials, they are grippier than the jimmy c's but I'm
not sure about the other two.

I did some research and found the weights of the pedals:

jimmy c's: 697g
animal hamilton: 601g
eastern magnesium: 510g
hoffman solemate: 618g

One more question about the Animal Hamiltons. How well do the bearings
hold up? The bearings in my wellgo's are getting eaten and I don't want
to buy a pedal without decent bearings.

I tired my brother's Jim Cs but I dont like the grip. they have
significantly les grip than my Azonic Fusion Mags I have on My mountain
bike. I'd use those, bu they aren't the BMX size that would be nice for
landing tricks and I don't want to swiths pedals all the time.
