Buying new bike.

The only thing that you're going to get new from C-dale or Spesh for $1400 is a mid-level CAAD 8 or Allez, unless you can haggle the shop down to $1400 on a CAAD 10 105.

I'd go with the Giant, too, as long as it's the right size for you.

The Felt F5 is a great deal for a new bike cost around $1200 to $1300 for carbon fiber frame and fork with Shimano 105 components. Buying a use carbon fiber bike could, not saying in this case it's happening, but the seller could have crashed the bike and knows, or fears there may be damage to the carbon and now want's to pass the bike off to the unsuspecting buyer. Hopefully this is a good friend and one you know and trust very much.

Froze mentioned the Felt F5,. That's a good choice. $1400 is a decent price point, hope you find something you like.

That bike you posted is completely different than the one you wanted earlier. I know nothing about that brand, never heard of it which worries me to a degree. In addition it has really low end components and for commuting to work the last thing you want is to have mechanical breakdowns unless you're only commuting a mile to work then you could walk if it broke! And that bike you showed is probably close to 10 pounds heavier than the Felt F5 I mentioned if not more! Also low cost MTB's with shocks have poor quality shocks and aren't worth a damn.

Not sure why you would go from a $1000 bike down to a $400 bike but I think you need to reevaluate your finances so you're not all over the map and confusing us as to what you can afford and want.

Keep in mind the more you can afford the better the components will be and thus the more reliable the bike will be, Shimano 105 is the sweet spot for their entire line, their highly reliable, fairly lightweight, inexpensive to replace when something does go wrong.

Again all the above is just an opinion.
