place - would have helped to know what part of the city or
suburbs you're in.

I actually live downtown but I have friends in
Mississauga, Oakville, Brampton, Richmond Hill,
Scarborough and all points in between. So I tend to go
almost anywhere for shopping.

north of Bloor (Bianco Plus) that has a lot but Sarah's
stuff can be a little pricy at times (definitely cheaper
than Williams-Sonoma though).

boards and boxes. Got a nice Salter digital scale on sale
there recently too. The place also has cake decorating
classes. I haven't taken any of the classes but the staff
seems to know their stuff.

Is that Riverdale? My grandmother used to live up the street
from there. This is some really great information. I've only
been baking/cooking for about a year. Been to all the places
you mentioned but long before I was thinking about
baking/cooking.

one block north of Bloor? More temptations. Or the
remaining commercial kitchen supply shops on Queen W?
(Sorry, can't be more helpful, haven't been shopping down
along there for a bit)

Further evil tempations - out on Furniture Row in
Mississauga (Dundas St W, from the border with Toronto out
to Cawthra Rd) there is a Home & Rural Appliance store who
would be happy to supply you with Agfa cookers, six burner
restaurant-style stoves, walk-in refrigerators and the
like 🙂 Be thankful most downtown homes don't have room
for such things.

They should - the shop has been around since, oh, at least
1973. My mom shopped there for years for her cake decorating
buisness. (the royal icing, fruit or sponge wedding cake
type) Noted wrt to the Ghiradelli. I'm in Parklawn - this is
part of my immediate shopping neighbourhood.

I know about the CookBook Store, between Cumberland and
Yorkville. Haven't been there in years. Moved out of town
for a bit and just moved back last month.

I know of Dinetz on King St. East. I think that is something
like Sherbourne or Jarvis. I cannot think of where a
commerical kitch supply shop would be on Queen W. How far
west? Bathurst? Lansdowne?

Almost worked for Home & Rural Appliance. Known about them
since 1980s. They have stores all over the place. I
definitely don't have room for that sort of equipment. I

I do feed her the results but she has been complaining
lately... less food, more gym. 8^) I have other hobbies

Thanks again for all the help Shirley. I've found a few
other places. Once you started pointing out a few I
realized I should be looking in different places. Since I
have been looking all the time (walking the dog, buying
coffee, etc.) I have found quite a few places in TO to get
cutting boards. I was at the St. Lawrence Market
(yesterday) and there is an amazing gadget store right
beside the Seafront fish market and across from Whitehouse
meats (both great stores but if you are going to shop on
Saturday you have to get there before noon). They have a
tonne of different things (cutting boards, silpats, half
sheets, knives, pots, pans, EVERYTHING). They have a good
range of price/quality as well.

Thanks for the suggestion. I had already gone to the store
on Yonge north of Eglinton and it really didn't have a lot.
Checked out the online store and they have a lot more than
the store. Unfortunately a quick search of 'cutting board'
revealed no wooden cutting boards.
