Thamesdown Transport can[1] allegedly take bikes (I've never tried it)
to, I think, Marlborough.

[1] I've just looked on www.thamesdown-transport.co.uk and cannot find
anything about bikes. Maybe they've stopped the scheme.

There is a plan to fit them to the Trawscambria buses in Wales but I
don't think it's been done yet.

In more enlightened countries, such as (for once) the US and some of
Western Europe, it is permitted to carry bicycles inside the bus in the
wheelchair area, subject to it not being required for a wheelchair.

I guess that is where there could be a problem. A wheelchair user getting
on - presumably you would have to get off (having paid your fare), but they
can hardly leave a wheelchair user stranded. A dilema.

Not sure how bikes are carried, but Tim Dearman offer bike carriage
between Inverness and Durness. I was going to make use of it earlier in
the year, but my weekend trip to Durness was cancelled, unfortunately.

Oxford Tube will allow bikes to be carried in the hold. National Bus
will as well, but prefer the bike to be booked in advance and may
insist on your turning the handlebars, removing the pedals, and,
depending on the driver, bagging the bike.

When it started, the T34 'Helston Branchline' from Redruth to Helston did,
not sure if it still does.

I've seen rear-racks a bit like those on some of the Dalesriders round Ripon.

Yes it has not sure if its on all busses / routes but is on the X50 and
X40 services from Aberystwyth.

Tim Dearman buses have a trailer which can take about 10 bikes.

Also, a few Rapsons buses around Strathspey / Cairngorms have racks for

Not one that would arise that often, because I can count on my fingers
the number of times I've seen a wheelchair on a bus.

For that matter, a bicycle on a bus is rare as well, as in the case of
most city buses it would be faster to ride it. It would just be a nice
means of "rescue" in poor weather or in the event of some kind of
breakdown that couldn't be fixed on the spot.

People in wheelchairs use certain bus services in Edinburgh fairly
regularly. These are operated by fully accessible buses and have
been successful in encouraging people in wheelchairs to use the
service. However, the spaces are mostly used by people pushing
prams.

Tim Dearman do indeed offer an excellent service from Durness to
Inverness. They use a bike trailer. I used it last year, and it is great
for getting you back from the 'far north' to more mainstream transport
in Inverness.
