  1. are there any weekend bunch rides around adelaide I could
join on while visiting later this month for a week?

I'm a b-grade roadie from auckland, planning some long slow
ones to improve the aerobic base while my wife's at a
conference. Itd be nice to hook up and see some local
    routes too.

You could try the Cobwebs ride on Saturday morning, setting
off at 8am from the northern end of Wigley Reserve, Glenelg
(near the end of Anzac Highway). We do 50km along the coast
to Outer Harbour and back via Port Adelaide, and there are
usually 3 groups ranging from 25-40km/h or so, which rest
and regroup halfway. I can only make it alternate weekends
    due to work :-(

I went with the fastest group last time, and the
[censored] managed to drop me about 3/4 of the way through
each leg, reaching 45km/h on the way back. I'm saving
    for a better bike :-)

I should be there, weather permitting (I don't care how cold
it is, but I'm not enough of a masochist to ride for fun in
    the rain).

Getting fitted on Friday, in fact. I was offered a very good
deal, overcoming the last vestiges of guilt :-)

I dont get paid for it, so I never set out in the rain.
Cold? Its been about 15 degrees here.

I'm on a Giant TCR carbon, yellow decals, red helmet. It was
also a great deal, leave the guilt behind!

  6. theres a few rides.... Norwood club meet on cnr Cross Rd and
Unley Rd at 8am (Mobil Service Station). Rides vary from the
coast to into the Hills Others meet at 8am Mega Bike on King
William Rd, Hyde Park (its south of the city mile...dont
confuse it with King William St), various bunches depending
on average speed you want to go.

Lots of other little groups around too....anywhere along the
coast from Glenelg to Outer Harobur you'll find cyclists out
    for a jaunt....

We meet at No 1 Anzac Highway for our ride at 8am..small
    group of 4-6 guys.

No doubt there are plenty of others too....good luck and I
    hope the weather improves!!

That stretch is great - long, flat, not much traffic and
almost no lights. I live in Torrensville, so I like to do a
triangle with Port Road and Anzac Highway in whichever
direction gives me a tail wind along it :-)

How about that? This is a TCR1, even though I thought I
could only afford a TCR2 - maybe they want to lose the 2004
floor stock? I couldn't find anything remotely affordable in
carbon elsewhere. I didn't like the yellow decals, alloy
cranks and spoke-challenged wheels on the TCR2 anyway.

My lowly OCR3 fits well, and the frame geometry and stem
length look the same, so I'm hopeful - only expecting to
need a 12-25 cassette and narrower bars (if the OCR is
    anything to go by).

Still trying to get in 30km/day in this [censored] weather on my
[censored] OCR in the meantime, though :-)

Any carbon in the bike absorbs road shock well (we have
some rough roads here) and is fantastic on a hill, its so
light. You wont be disappointed! The Ksyrium SL wheelset is
    a delight.

I intended to head out of town, maybe up the Gorge Rd out
through Lobethal and run a big slow loop say to Murray
Bridge and back, I have plenty of time in the day. Or south
to Victor Harbour and back, that sort of thing. Have a good
    look around.

Thanks for the tips about group rides, guys, I have more of
an idea now what to do
