I'm thinking about joining you lot.. but thinking and doing, for me, are two vastly different things. I'll probably wake at 9 and make it down that way around 11am.. try and ride some of the circuit, get lost, yell at inanimate objects.. recognise a road, ride home..

Guys, I was waiting at corner of blackburn road and doncaster road around 7.30 for a big pack to come, but gave up! I did a route of doncaster and home via reynolds road hills. i did speak to a bunch of riders later in the morning up reynolds rd who said they start from bulleen road... must have been 10 of them!

New top speed down 'hill of brown pants' ! 81.6kph
Which hill is this one?
I think we just hit 80kph in the bunch sprint at the bottom of the tourist road into Montrose.. Last time I rode it, I couldn't get much above 60kph due to wind (I hope).

Harris Road Gully Rd. Just after start (you pass a family orchard w/shop on left. top of hill) There is a 90deg left turn with a 40kph sign and then a fairly straight descent for approx a km. bit bumpy neat top which has made me hesitate (that and what you can see in front of you!).
85kph shall be mine next Sunday!!! A 'lead-out' would be even better😉
After passing the Kangaroo Ground Primary school ( near the wierd bible-translation place and 'General Store' ) Turn RIGHT up Eltham-YarraGlenRd to Watsons Creek and then left into Alma Rd and back Right and 'on-track' again into KangaGrd-YGlen Rd and down to Hurstbridge Rd again
mind you. I didnt feel any good till we were about 2/3rds of the way thru the ride so maybe that's gonna be a judgement call on the day...

I must have ridden this bit coz it was relatively early in the ride. I know there was some fast bits but I don't think I hit anywhere near 80kph. Either too chicken or wasn't trying.. I'll have to ride it again!
What can you "see in front of you"?
I might be able to give you a leadout.. or sneak up wheelsucker-style :-)
So how many made it for BR3, just 2 or have there been any additions? I'm up for this Sunday, although I suspect you guys will leave me for dead on the Warrandyte Rd (anyone wanting to follow the Nancy Route please turn up Sunday morning otherwise I am going to be in pain on Monday).

Just me/Tony but we missed Kyra and Hippy. Bluenose mentioned he was up for it but he either wisely stayed in bed or we missed him too.
All this posting and the group has never been bigger than 3.........we need to instigate a huge recruiting drive to lift the numbers. maybe the start point can be adjusted to a more central position to suit all those interested.
If we can get the numbers to grow and stay consistant then we could possibly look at giving it an official name. eg: Riders against flat boaring roads 😄

Beasts from the East...
I'll try and make the group again this Sunday, probably leaving a little later and picking you up at the start of Old Warrandyte Rd.
How long do you reckon it takes you lot to ride from the start point (which I must've ridden past twice!!) to where Old Warrandyte veers off Donkeycaster Rd.?

What does everyone think?
"RAFBR" doesnt quite grab the imagination...
We have sighted a few other small groups thru Doncaster way. Must be plenty of riders out there. All those cruisers who put the bike in the car and drive down to StKilda should be ashamed of themselves. "Flatheads" they shall now be referred to as...
Hey, we woulda doubled the numbers if us 2 didnt stand around talking at the start and picked up Kyra at Blackburn rd and Hippy to if my instructions had been better
Maybe change the start to the Shoppingtown corner of Doncaster/Williamsons Rd and we leave no later than 7:20 from there. That way we can throw in the ending at Doncaster Shoppingtown (and maybe even the Elgar Rd hill too if we are feeling masochistic!)
