Very nice looking scooter.

As for 7800, of course it's a great group. If Shimano ergos suit your mitts, go for it. That gruppo would certainly be the cherry on top of your liverwurst.

I'm a Campy guy, so using Shimano or even thinking about it always makes me throw up a bit in my mouth, but if it flips your trigger, go for it.

Nice looking bike so far! If it were me, I would go with Ultegra, but I don't compete any more so a couplke extra grams don't matter to me. I like the looks of Ultegra a little better and I think it lasts longer than DA.

I didn't know that Alienator was a Campy fan. I had him pegged for a SRAM or Shimano Tourney fan😄!

Beautiful frame. As the resident Italian, I vote for Campagnolo also. Why not Chorus?

I agree but would go with Ultegra SL it looks really cool (ice grey). This bike has the same color scheme as my Orbea (same wheels too) and the SL looks awesome on it and is supposted to be a little lighter than regular Ultegra. I think the new SRAM Red or Force groups are nice as well. Haven't tried Campy yet.

after some comparison and budget allowance, i still went with DA. personally i like the ultegra SL color. but the finish i find it better on the DA. if the DA was available in a darker color i would have gone with that instead (i know the new 7900 DA are dark colour but too much $$$$).

i know yea the DA cranks i got has ultegra rings.. anyway i'm ok with it for now since i didn't paid retail for those..

i'm hesitating now if i should go with a carbon stem and if it worth it... or is it just bling as they are not any lighter than some alu stems?

Hey, if you can afford it and want it, go with the CF Stem! By the way, what pedals are you using? I thought I was the last person on earth to use platforms with toe clips and straps😄!

well, this frame is absolutely different than the Allez's Columbus frame as i had the Allez columbus frame too. The s-works columbus is lighter, thinner and "fatter" than the Allez one when i compared them. 😉

i love these vintage toe clips pedals from shimano. mine is a shimano 600.
i wanted to get the dura ace to match my ride. but they are so $$$$ and rare for a good condiiton one. even these 600s to be found in a good condition was pretty hard. :eek:

I've got 3 sets of 600 platform pedals. One is in good condition except for the bearing caps. They are all scraped up and I have to use silicone sealant to keep them on. Another set is in great condition, and my last set is the last version that they made, with no caps. They were NOS a couple of years ago and I ended up paying $75.00 for them on eBay. I have never seen DA for sale on eBay, but I have seen the odd 105's. I have a right 105 that was given to me and I am on the lookout for a left 105 to match it with.

Don't understand why you would use toeclips and traditional pedals in this day and age.

But if you want exotic, there is plenty of great toeclip/pedal stuff on ebay - not necessarily Shimano, but often much better in that department.

I learned to ride using straps and clips and used them for the next 22 years, so I got really used to them. I tried clipless for 18 months and thought that I was comfortable with them until I got out an old bike that I had not changed the pedals on. I did not realize how much more I enjoyed clips and straps until I had ridden clipless, so now I only ride with toe clips and toe straps. But then I like steel frames too.

my 600s were bought from ebay too for only $35. it came with new toe clips and the conditions were pretty good except those bearing caps too that were scratched up. but i sanded and repainted them so it looks ok now 😄

so what's the deal with those newer models that doesn't have the bearing cap to access the bearings? i thought those you couldn't replace the bearings if they were to be replaced 😕

there was one used DA 7400 toe clip that ended lately on ebay for like $145 + shipping. and two NOS for over $300 :eek: :eek:
