  1. Hallo Folks,

I've looked long and hard in the group archives, but can't find any
information to distinguish between the Brooks Conquest and Flyer.

Is it basically that one is just 10mm narrower than the other and has
some fancy copper rivets, or are there other, more fundamental
    differences?

Thanks in advance for any information.

  2. You might ask on the Classicrendezvous list:

  3. Here's a link to a list of Brooks saddle dimensions (several are missing but
it'll give you a general idea):

Are you referring to the "Champion Flyer?" According to Wallbike, it
features the same leather top as the standard B17. The Conquest is 10mm
narrower and 10mm shorter. Both feature the same single rail sprung design.

Wallbike lists Brooks dimensions as well. Excellent site!

I'm pretty much settled on a B67 myself. 210mm wide single rail sprung
    design. Wide load here... 😉

Thanks very much - that list confirmed what I thought.

    Yes.

They were also my conclusions - the Conquest is 10mm narrower than the
Flyer, but has some fancy copper rivets and a much heftier price tag.
Other than that, I couldn't see any significant difference between the
two - not enough to justify such a price difference, at any rate.

That's what my question really should have been, I suppose: how much
margin should there be between sit-bone width (in my case, about
    140mm) and saddle width?

Rode a Flyer all last year and this winter and spring. I'd honestly go for
a plain B17 if I got another Brooks, I've owned a few of those. The
springs don't really do much but make you bounce in the saddle when you
reach high cadences. Mind you--this isn't what it's designed for, high
    cadence cycling--just a warning. You'll lose half a pound of spring--which
you'll feel if you like to stand and climb.

If it's going on a groovy tootlin' about bike--then the Flyer is great as
it looks fabulous and bouncy. 😄

If you're looking for suspension help, I'd look at your tires before
    "springing" for a Flyer. :P

Another thing to consider with Brooks is that they're narrower than you
think--well the usable seating area is the saddle top, minus the riveted
ridge on back--unless you like sitting on rivets. 😉

    I don't - thanks for the tip !
