  1. Today i was riding my uni (torker LX) with some friends at the skatepark
when my rim snaped and punctured my tire.
My rim has been bent for a while. for some reason the left side
is bent, but the right side is perfectly fine. About a month ago, when
I started doing a 1ft drop of a box the rimbent just a little at the
bottom of the rim when my pedals were even (where the rim hit the
ground) after that the rim ben about halfway all around the left side
of the rim. A couple of days ago I took my channel locks and bent the
rim back a little (probably not a good idea). then the rim ben right
back this time and ed, eventually making a sharp edge that cut my
    tube.
before all this happened I bought a new tire, I didn't know what
size to get so I went with the 2.00 in. After I bought it, i did some
research and found out that I probably should have gone with the 2.5
    in.
so, I know i need a need I know rim for sure. while i'm at it
should i get a new hub too? I know there are all sorts of sizes and
strengths of hubs, but my hub isn't braking or bending, my rim is. or
will getting a stronger hub help prevent my rim from bending?
I am thinking with buying either the 19 in. KH trials rim or the
19 in. Qu-ax rim, that way I can use the 19 x 2.5 in Creepy Crawler
    tire. Which rim is better?
Is the stock LX hub good enough for me if I'm just going to be
riding street and doing 2 to 3 foot drops? If not, what is the best hub
    for your money?
Also, will any spoke work? I work at a bike shop so I will be
able to get about a 10% discount on all the gear.
I don't want to spend any more than I have to, so should I
upgrade now, or should I wait about another month when I have been
working at the bike shop for at least 90 days, that weigh I can get
about a 50% discound on a whole uni? Any help is appreciated

    Jack

  2. I would suggest getting a sun brf rim, maxxis hookworm tire, and then
once you get 50% of stuff, maybe get a trials wheelset or a whole new
uni. The LX hub should be fine, how much do you weigh though?

  4. I don't think youll break the hub, but you might. you could do what I
said in the earlier post, and not do anything too big on the uni, and
then after you get 50% off you'd have a freestyle uni and could get a
    trials.

  7. it's 48 hole, which should fit the lx hub. it's $45 off danscomp.com,
but I bet you can find one on ebay for less.

  8. that rim is on UDC for $37. Do you think the 2 in wide version would
    work?

  9. One problem with getting a new rim is the cost of getting the wheel
rebuilt. The total cost of the rim + spokes + hub + labor can be more
than the cost of a brand new Torker LX. If you can do the wheel build
yourself you will save some money. Labor to build a wheel can vary
depending on the bike shop, but generally it will be about $25 to $35
plus the cost of materials (spokes, nipples, rim tape, etc.).

Factory machine built wheels are cheaper than hand-built wheels from a
bike shop. Torker does sell a replacement wheel for the LX. It's all
built and ready to go with a new hub and spokes. Don't know the cost.
UDC doesn't have it in their catalog, but if you call they probably
have it. I'm guessing the cost would be in the $70 range plus shipping
    (just a wild guess).

Sounds like you might be better off putting that new wheel money
towards a new (or used) trials unicycle.

  10. I think I'll keep the Torker seat and fork and hub. And get a 48 hole 19
inch Qu-ax trials rim along with the 19 inch creepy crawler tire and
some new spokes. I can get about a 10% discount on all the materials
and with a little help, I should be able to build the wheel myself.
