For the second time in 3 years I have had my RD shifter cable snap inside the brifter. It leaves the ball with maybe a quarter inch of cable on it, looking all frayed and gnarly.
I found one other post by someone with this issue, so I know it's not a total rarity, but I was wondering if others experienced this and found a solution. I've used these cables for less than an entire season (for me, a season = about 6-7k miles, so I'd say these have about 5k miles).
No burrs on the cable housing where it enters the brifter. I doubt the break point is that far out anyway.
Do I replace my cables twice a year and chalk it up as normal wear and tear? I'm eyeing a nice set of 7801's or maybe some of that new Ultegra SL stuff, but if it aint gonna fix my problem, and this is just normal, I'll save my $300...
Thanks for any help!
