Hello, I purchased a set of wheels - LX hubs with Mavic rims - from a well known online UK company in June 04.
The rim on the rear wheel has cracked along the line of 3 of the eyelets and I have had to replace it.
Since I purchased them, I have ridden probably about 2500 miles.
I've ridden bikes a lot over the last few years and I have not experienced a rim to break so quickly as this. The tyre pressure is never more than 80 PSI and I have not used the bike for anything particularly adventurous in terms of stunts or anything like that - it's used purely for road cycling.
I think this is just cause for a replacement. Agreed?

Definitely. A number of people seem to have had similar problems with Mavic rims recently. The shop may try to suggest the cracks are somehow your fault but it seems Mavic have serious quality problems at the moment.

It should last longer than 7 months/2500 miles. I have some Mavic rims that have done many more than that. I expect you'll have hard tim e actually getting a replacement to be honest but good luck, please let us know how it progresses.

I expect you'll be OK. Avoid dark (hard) anodised rims in future.
I'd say its a case for replacement and your first point of contact is the shop you bought it from - they are responsible so don't get fobbed off too much to Mavic, make them deal with the wholesaler / Mavic. Your contract is with the shop.
