Brisbane driver stories

Yep. Tam and I got beeped by two very giggly, flirtatious boys this morning.

It was funny as.

.... a very weird experience. It was near uni, and it's
SWOTVAC, so that might explain it.

The driver's depth perception would have been seriously compromised. How
can it be legal to drive one-eyed?

can it be legal to drive one-eyed?

I'm sure in most states it's not legal for exactly that reason.

friend could no longer drive in Victoria (back in the 80's) because he
had lost an eye. I'll see what I can find.

friend could no longer drive in Victoria (back in the 80's) because he
had lost an eye. I'll see what I can find.

I stand corrected... it looks like it's perfectly legal as long as you
have all the right gear in place:

Many years ago (in WA), I knew a young guy who had lost an eye, but used to
ride a motorbike. In case you are wondering, not everyone was at ease about
it.

The horse had two eyes, with my granddad that made three. I'm sure it's

ride a motorbike. In case you are wondering, not everyone was at ease about
it.

People who lose one eye develop other ways of determining
distance using their monocular vision. Shadows, hues,
relative sizes, etc... It takes a while to develop though,
and I'd be worried about a guy coming out of a hospital
(Donga's original case) with a medical "I've just lost
vision" type eye patch. If there's no legal issue, though,
it's up to him. I personally wouldn't feel safe doing it.

Crikey, and my licence specifies I must use my glasses to drive. My
prescription is not strong (-2) and I'm a lot worse off with one eye
shut than with no glasses. Weird.

We have a Mater hospital here in Newcastle, I ride past it on my way to the
races at Kooragang island, I have not see a one eyed driver however.

I had a very impressed passenger lean out the window and yell something like
"Wow your doing 50 km/h good work" as I was riding along the flat bike path
on the edge of the road, I was going faster than the traffic as they had to
slow for the road works.

It was a bit of a change to have someone yell something nice rather than the
norm of abuse or throw a missile or spit etc.
