OK, I'm confused!
Smart move.
Quoted message said:I have been doing low carb now for just about a year.
Lost all my weight and have been maintaining it now for several
months.
Good job.
Quoted message said:Breyers now has ice cream and they say on the box it has 0 grams of
carbs
Quoted message said:but something isn't adding up.
Exactly.
Quoted message said:According to their website you get the net
carb count by subtracting dietary fiber AND sugar alcholol from the
total
Quoted message said:carb count per serving and that gives you your total carb count.
I was under the impression that the ONY way you got your total carb
count
Quoted message said:was either if the food was already 0 grams of carbs or if it was more
then 0
Quoted message said:grams of carbs, but had dietar fiber you then subtracted the dietary
fiber
Quoted message said:from the total carb count to get the net carb count. Nowhere on
atkins.com
Quoted message said:does it talk about subtracting sugar alcholols, at least not where I
have
Quoted message said:seen, this is the first I'im hearing of it.
Is breyers pulling a fast one over people or is this actually true
because
Quoted message said:I'm not buying it.
How true is it?
If they claim the deduction applies to everyone, it's a lie.
Simple as that. Oh look, they don't mention that it only
works that way for some people.
Some people can get away with the deduction, some can't. I
only know of one way to tell for certain, and it only applies
to people who have followed the detailed steps of Atkins. On
Atkins if you've found your CCLL you have complete control
over being in or out of ketosis and you know to within 5 grams
the level that kicks you out. So eat to 10 away from that
level and eat 20 grams worth of sugar alcohol. Fell out of
ketosis and you know you have to count 50+% of sugar alcohols.
Stay in ketosis and you know you can deduct 50-% of sugar
alcohols. A few more rounds and you'll be able to narrow it
down more accuruately. *Why* more work than just deciding
to not believe the claim and counting sugar alcohols.
It is possible to make your own ice cream and know its real
carb count. If you find some sort of carb-free splenda
syrup you can get it really low in carbs. Not an every-week
sort of treat, though.
