i am not sure i should continue this thread, since obviously i have fallen
into the same old long running debate that some months ago caused me to stop
monitoring this group
i understand portions, i understand exercise. I could not have reached my
goal of 40 pound weight loss, and held it for the last 7 months without
understanding both. I weigh every day and modify my diet accordingly. If i
go 3 pounds up, i go on a mini induction and significant portion reduction.
This has happened only 3 times. (3 pounds low, which has happened twice
calls for a big breakfast and lunch). Most of the time I am either not
worrying (1-2 pounds down) or worrying (1-2 pounds up) During the later, I
cut back somewhat, eating a very small lunch. I exercise 1.5 hours a day 5-6
times a week, so there is not much to increase there. over time i have been
trying to understand what foods did and did not cause fluctuation in weight.
It is very clear to me that some foods of supposedly equal caloric value
have different impact on my weight. What is not clear is the causality. I at
first thought that the breyers was simply the final indulgance, and blaming
it was like thinking the cherry on the ice cream sundae was the problem,
however, others in the low carb store also noted problems with this food,
and that piqued my interest.
As such I was simply trying to alert/question whether this product might
not be what it pretends to be.
Unlike some people here, i do not believe we have to all eat the exact same
food and exercise exactly the same way to lose weight. In particular, for
some of us it is decreasing cravings, which helps us maintain our portions,
for others it is eating much more strictly and simply. I happen to like some
low carb products, and find that i can enjoy them without the same
consequences that occur when I eat a similar treat that is sugar based.
Yesterday, amongst my meals of flaxseed bagels , whole grain crackers and
tomato pie, asparagus,i had snacks of a low carb candy bar, and a low carb
cookie. I lost a pound. Were I to substitute a sugar cookie and a real candy
bar, I would not have lost weight, for more reasons than the calories
contained in the treat.
If this group is to serve as some kind of low carb community, then someone
should be able to post such a question without getting grief for eating such
low carb foods. I am delighted that companies are trying to accomodate me.
If you don't like them, or they don't work for you, don't eat them, but
don't assume like every busybody since the beginning of time that because
they aren't right for you they aren't right for anyone. Those that cannot
eat artificially low carb treats, or who have chosen not to, should ignore
threads about them, much as mennonites ignore people discussing car safety
issues.

Quoted message said:20% of my food by calories comes from low carb ice creams. About half of
that is Breyers. I have no problems with it.
Perhaps you have a quantity/portioning problem.
