  1. Well, I'm booked for a weekend in Wales at long last. Due to
massive procrastination on the part of my walking group, I
will be heading to Brecon on my own. Partly through choice I
must admit, as I am not sure how well my knee will hold up.
Fire Evacuation Drill from the 15th floor at work did not go
too well with my knee. Swelling has mostly gone down, but it
    was a bit sore.

I think I will have a walk over the wild west side. The
Garreg Lwyd and Garreg Las area. It's been on my to do list
for far too long. After that, I'm not sure, but I'll
probably keep to the west side and knock off some more of
Paul Saunders' Metric Mountains. It's been more than a
dozen years since I have been over this side of the park,
so I am really looking forward to it after too many
sanitised Surrey footpaths recently (or worse still, a lack
    of walking at all).

Anyone up for a walk Saturday or Sunday? I'm only looking at
a gentle stroll of around 12 km. Should be done before last
    orders at lunch time.

How about a beer in Brecon Friday or Saturday night? I'm
staying in Brecon, so I guess it makes sense for me to drink
there. Although I hear the distant siren call of
    Hereford....

I also need to scout out some ideas for bringing my
family back at the end of July for our annual camping
    trip to the Brecons.

    Have fun, Paul

Errm, are you totally wedded to the Beacons for that
weekend? That's the weekend some of us will be in Snowdonia.
How do you fancy joining us there?

You will be up for it if you trust me. I know some very
easy locations a short distance from the car. You've got
the gear, you just need to pluck up the courage. It's just
like a camp site without toilets and you have to walk a
little bit further. If it all goes pear shaped it's only a
short distance back to the car.

That rules it out for me, my car isn't fitted with a shower.
Now if I had a motor home....

Obviously I've been out of the group too much recently
since I didn't realise there was the Snowdonia trip on.
Unfortunately, I have booked and paid for my B&B in
Brecon, otherwise I would change plans and ride up to
Snowdonia, it's only another hour and a half trip for me
    (and avoids the
    M4).

Never mind. All being well (with my knee), I will be back in
Brecon on the 30th July with my family and in Snowdonia for
the week from 4th Sept. If plans come to fruition, I will be
wild camping in the Brecons sometime between these two with
a friend of mine, who wants to try out wild camping (as he's
just become an Argos Tent Owner).

    Have fun in Snowdonia, Paul

Tut tut! You really should pay more attention! ;-)

Pity. You couldn't phone them up to cancel or perhaps
    change the date?

Well keep us informed. I'd be interested to join you. If you
want any tips on wild camp sites in the Beacons, email me (I
don't want to give away all my secret spots on the
    newsgroup...)

<Scold> Tut tut. If you change your mind we'll (hopefully)
    be at dolgam-snowdonia.co.ukcamping.html, and if
we're not there hopefully there'll be a facility for leaving
a message with the manager as to our actual location.
