Post for the field you want to be in - Butsfield, Fatfield or even
Cockfield. For fun, try using Bowes to Piercebridge, but be careful Tow
Law doesn't catch you. Don't get Hamsterly in Muggleswick, and make sure
Witton Gilbert doesn't catch Raby's in the Bearpark, or you might end up
with Esh Winning.
Ah now that takes me back some years to when I worked for Northumbrian
Water. Our offices were in Pity Me, I lived in Witton Gilbert (pronounced
Jilbert) and one of my rural sewage works (yes, yes, I know - it may be [censored]
to you but it was my bread and butter) was in Tow Law (pronounced as in
"ow"😉. The first time I went up there on a site visit was in June and I was
told to take a coat in case it snowed. I did, and it did!
Used to get some nice trips out to the water treatment works in Weardale
too. Had to wash me wellies and surveying kit in bleach beforehand though.
By the way, there's a lovely piece for northumbrian smallpipes called
"Breamish".
Roy.
