I dunno. Maybe now he'll get some unified support. With some dicipline, I think he could be a contender.

Really a fabulously entertaining rider. He only knows how to attack, and never gives up . Out of nowhere the other day to get to 7th, then now to win another stage and steal 5th on the overall. He needs to be lighter to actually be the overall winner of tdf. But for certain races he is the guy to beat.

It could be a very good move for him. If there is truth to the rumor that Roberto Heras is not going to ride the Tour next year, but instead focus on the Vuelta Vino could have the support that he has wanted and needed to be a real contender for the Tour. From what I understand Liberty is a very structured team so it may be a bit of an adjustment, but in any case I think its good he's moving on from T-Mobile. The team has really suffered from having too many chiefs and not enough indians.

Great move on his part.
Just look at the track record of people who have left the most talented but incredibly unimaginative and thick-headed bunch of sports thinkers in the world:
Bobby Julich, leaves and wins Paris Nice and Crit International
Cadel Evans, leaves and becomes Tour contender

Oscar Sevilla joins and goes from contender to pack fodder (same as Julich)
T Mobile has a funny way of sucking the life out of their riders, in contrast to CSC and Riis.

This will mean a much more exciting and attacking Tour with Vino fully supported, and Valverde now knows he can come and stay with anyone in the mountains.

Basso and Jan have their work cut out for them. I mean like Bruyneel, I think Vino could never win, but he will make life difficult for the top two or three guys, as he did to Lance in 2003.

As I said on another post, I don't think Vino can be a serious team player. He's a mixed bag: He screwed Ullrich repeatedly but he also won two stages. You hire him if you don't give a [censored] about GC and want some glory. But he is not a TdF winner.
