recently just put my new shimano disks brakes onto my bike, they came fully bled ready to fit, although the left controls the front calliper and the right controls the back? this seems like the wrong way round to me? anyone else even had this problem?

That's the standard configuration for all bikes, but you can always change it.

Except for cyclocross bikes, which are very often configured right/front, left/rear.

Also except for fixies and unicycles, which are very often configured with no brakes.
Ultimately, the brakes can be configured any way you see fit.
