Will definately try the bit of card but with the brakes being a tad mobile, when I try to tighten the bolt holding the blocks everything seems to move about anyone any ideas on tightening bolts on blocks without the entire brake moving about and what is the general consensus of using a penny to introduce a gap rather than a piece of card?
A penny sounds OK, just make sure you realise I was talking absolute bollocks when I said "leading edge" - should have been "trailing egde" of course.
With V-brakes, I put the card under the end of the brake block, and hold the brakes in the "closed" position while tightening the bolt. You can also use a large woodworking clamp to hold the brakes closed if you've got one. This gives you a free hand to stop the block rotating.
