Ever since reading "A Rough Ride" many years ago, I've often wondered about Kimmage's progression as a writer/journalist (I'm from Canada).
Nice to see he's settled into his niche. To quote a line that William Burrough's used to describe more than one contemporary: The guy can write.
I'm curious to know about his status in Ireland. Is he well-known as a sportswriter? Is he regarded as an outcast by cycling's hierarchy?
I heard somewhere that he regrets elevating Roche to such lofty heights in his book. True? -

JJ : Paul Kimmage is well respected as a sports writer - and he has broadened his range to sports other than cycling (he's done a few articles recently on sports like Golf, rugby, winter olympics).
Kimmage has moved from the Sunday Tribune (Ireland) to Sunset Times in London.
He's picked up writer of the year awards both here in Ireland and in Britain.His relationship with Sean Kelly is very amicable.
His relationship with Roche though is not so good : he always writes that he respected SR as a cyclist but that for whatever reason they fell out.CB : glad you liked his article.
