8 today. warmer than the last few weeks. little wind about. The plan to get everyone to the caf at about the same time worked much better today (opinions?) altho ringing the orders ahead is a must next week 😄
Our first 'incident'. Idiot female driver in hotted up little buzzbox decided 2 clear lanes arent enough for her so swerves AT Blah who is at the front, coming very close to me (about 5m behind him) and god-knows-howmissing Blah and just for good measure the boyfriend in the passenger seat coincidently swings arm out of window and again god-knows-how doesnt make contact with Blah 😠 😠 😠 Blah, DaveB n Me cursing amongst ourselves and as we start to catch up to them at the next set of lights the gal does a bit of 'possum obourne' thru the shopping centre carpark to get around the lights as they obviously realised we were closing. 500m later they are pulled up at a caf. shouting, abuse, nice comments about our shorts, all-bike-riders-delaying-motorists-comments, get-out-of-my-face (walking 4m up to me to say so! and boy didnt she have good breath!!!) Cops called. blurb given. who knows what now...
Ah. I DO love a good ride. Lets not do that again, shall we?
So are you sure that was our esteemed founder riding in the other direction along Greensborough Rd? Did I see tri bars on his bike, maybe he's gone to the dark side.

Joy!
I was flaked out at home in bed. Too hot to think 🙂

You caught 'em and didn't [censored] 'em? Get their plates?
Frame pumps and keys reamin useful tools for leaving your artistic efforts on their panels.
hippy "Mirror? You don't need no stinkin' mirror.." WHACK!

DaveB
positive. he looked up when I shouted out to him. would recognise them big ugly yello reflective tape-bits anywhere. Tri-bars? you sure. no wonder he dont come on BR's anymore.
their best comment "youre fingerprints are on our car!"
No way, the best comment was "I ride a bike too" followed closely by "All cyclists are idiots". Hard to call someone an idiot when they're already doing it for you.
got better than plates. they were stoopid enuff to call police! their best comment "youre fingerprints are on our car!"
so, that would be 'digital assault' then?
[censored]! What a way to start the day. The good news is that everyone is ok.
My assertion that Melbourne drivers are the _worst_ anywhere, is getting further supporting evidence... Sydney drivers can be pretty bad as well, but they're cramped for space - where would they even get two clear lanes?

More details guys.. come on.. admit it.. you forced them off the road with your vehicles and then chased them into a cafe threatening to squirt them with bidon juice..

there's a series of Canberra Times letters claiming that the narrower (Australian standard) lanes on Northbourne Avenue are far too dangerous, how can your average motorist be expected to cope ? !!!

What was interesting to witness was that she was in such a state while on the phone (to 000?) she was making up a scenario that was very clearly NOT taking place.
Who mentioned karma when that 'reverse camelbak' comment was made? :P

THEY called the police?! What a novel change..
What were they claiming? Did someone have a go at them first?
they claimed we accused them of trying to kill us and then had the temerity to yell abuse at them afterwards!
They also claimed we were "endangering their lives", which was a pretty mystifying way to open the 'debate'. BTW, haven't heard back from the police. The female constable said she'd be in touch after they spoke to the nutbags and sorted whether they wanted to make a complaint. I think they'd have a word to them and gently explain that a bit of shouting and pushing (nobody injured) and their car touched (not damaged) wouldn't really stack up against a witnessed actual crime (reckless endangerment? willful idiocy?).

The quantum leap between reality and "yobbo" logic never fails to astonish me.

They may look like idiots and talk like idiots but don't let that fool you. They really are idiots. (with apologies to Groucho Marx)
Why the big issue with cyclists WHEN there are lanes enough for everyone?
Oh no!
there was only 2 unoccupied lanes for cars and a parking/bike lane which we had the temerity to occupy.
My god. How could we not see the logoc of swerving into the lefthand bike/parking lane "Bcos we were holding them up???"
The only thing that puts i into perspective is the fact that sad little car is probably the only possession she will ever pay off on 25% hire purchase being a checkout chick in [censored]
F"nothin intrinsickly(?) wrong with bein' a checkout chick, hey?"Dutch
Just checking, because riding home from Glenvale today it seems that some motoridiots don't think so.
I want an AirZound.. screw safety.. I just want to give 'em a dose of their own.
hippy "Don't mind him, he has a headache"
Yep today's BR idiot was claiming we were riding illegally because we were two abreast. Funny thing is we were two abreast in a parking lane. One of many of his arguments that made no sense at all.
