Nah, I said I brought 2 bottles of fluid, I drank a total of four bottles. We refilled. The chocolate growling dog I can not take on the bike, it is very hard to eat, just too heavy, the wild berry one is much better, for me at least. I'd say that for the 100 k spin the cheapest option is four bananas and plain water. For me bananas work really well on the bike.
Oh, as well, why sportsdrink? Well, fluid and energy works well for me, it makes a big difference. I like sportsdrink on the bike, On long rides I have one bottle of sports drink and one with water. I like not having to try to eat 70 grams of carbs per hour, I like mixing it with a bit of energy from fuel, less hard on my stomach anywa

Given that it's Cup weekend is anyone heading out on Sunday morning. I think it might also be the start of daylight savings, if so, can I suggest we start at 8:20 rather than 7:20 for this week.

Sounds good......I have missed the last three for one reason or another so I will see whoever rocks up at 0820h (I would have been keen to start a 0620h but would no doubt have been shouted down).
What does everyone else eat before a BR and how far is the ride for you?
~90k for the couple I've done. 2 slices Vegemite toast before leaving, carry two bidons of water and some fruit bars. Often I'm nearly home before cracking a fruitbar and I try to drink regularly but I'm almost always underdone hydration-wise. Note to self: carrying 2 bottles up those hills is STUPID unless you USE them! DRINK!
Wow, all that food and only 2 bottles of fluid? Don't you sweat? How are you meant to digest without water?
Humans are >70% water, right? The body can spare some.. ;-)

As much [censored] as I cop for triathletes carrying so much fluid, I can't help but wonder what the disadvantage of this is, in training? The biggest benefit of sports drink over water is that the little salt they put in makes you drink more fluid, increasing your total consumption.
I think the snippet went something like "2% loss of body weight due to sweating can have as much as 10% negative impact on performance". I'd have to have the book in front of me to verify that but in the meantime.. enjoy:

BREAKING NEWS!!
Natural Confectionary Company now produces soft drinks!
I spotted the bottles in Coles last night. I believe they are from the "Natural Beverage Company" but they use the same graphics as the lollies so I'm assuming they're from the same company.

hippy - your reporter on the sweet.. ah.. street
Do the labels on the bottles also proudly proclaim that they're 99% fat free, like they do on the lolly bags? I don't know who's the more stupid, those who put that on bags of lollies in the first place or those who think it actually means something.

It does mean something.. it means they're almost all sugar!! Yay! Just what a spent athlete needs post-race. As for your question, obviously the morons who buy 99% fat-free lollies thinking they are healthy are being suckered by the oh-so-clever marketing dept. at Lolly Maker Central..
