-Greensborough-Heidelberg-KewI'm off this week but will be back in next week for BR11. I've had
enough of showing how slow on the bike I am, tomorrow I will show how
even slower I am at running at the Decastella Run in Kew (don't bother
cycling on Kew Boulevard tomorrow morning). Based on the times for last
year's field I will be dead last and very glad to return to Sunday
cycling the followign week.DaveB

I could try to make an effort to get there. I rode 60 k just before lunch today, and if the weather is not total [censored] tomorrow morning, then I could be on. I'll check in here later to see if there are any takers. -

Ok, look for a guy, red helmet, red black jersey, black 3/4 "shorts", red white cervelo soloist, with zonda wheels. Detailed enough? What do I look out for? Now, give me exact location so I know where to head to please. I have NEVER been in that area so please make it easy for me.
Claes.

Can I ride bridge rd - church st - high st to doncaster? In Melways it looks like it. I hope it is not a highway or something where I am not allowed with the bike?

Yep. basically follow the tramline (always take the 'left' option wherever the tramlines fork) to Balwyn... oh hang on!
the last 1km of Doncaster road is being dug up to relay the tramlines at the moment.Maybe... do the tramline thing till you get to Harp Junction (top of shart-sharp hill). There is a pub on the opposite junction ('The Harp' !).
Go right there at the fork. That's Belmore Rd. Go along that for 4-5km till you get to a roundabout. go left (Still named Belmore Rd) and this will sweep to right after 500m and at bottom of hill will be Elgar Rd (with kids trainline on your left). Turn left into Elgar, and up steep hil land this takes you up to Doncaste Shoppingtown.Or alternately do the tramline as far as you physically are allowed which takes you to Bulleen Rd, go along that until you come to set of shops and school on your right. There's a bike path that wraps around the hwy-side of the School (go over onto footpath and all will be revealed). This bike path basically follows the freeway around and back to Doncaster Rd ,avoideding all the roadworks and the nasty hill!. Continue East again along/up Doncaster Rd and you will arrive at Shoppingtown.
If per chance you decide to drive there, there's heaps of parking (its a mall basically...) -

Cool, got the instructions down on paper now. If I get lost it is your fault now ๐ I'll be there, I estimate it will take me 50 minutes to get there, with some margin for mess upps from my side. See you tomorrow.C

Yes, you can either use it to go from 10 My Street, My Suburb, Vic to 49
Your Street, Your Suburb, Vic or simply from My Suburb, Vic to Your Suburb,
Vic. The only irritating thing about the latter method is that half the
time it comes back and says, "Did you mean Your Suburb Central, Your Suburb
East, Your Suburb West, Your Suburb South or Your Suburb North?" But it is
brilliant at showing you good routes to get from A to B.Quoted message said:

the last 1km of Doncaster road is being dug up to relay the tramlines at the moment.Found this section today, at the tail end of 3.5hrs on the roadie. I've decided
to add Doncaster Rd. to my list of "commute routes" just to get some extra
kays in. Did it today to see what it looks like in daylight ๐
I rode past all the construction (barriers are for carse not bikes :P) and
noticed they are laying down some serious amounts of concrete!FD> How far up Doncaster do you usually go? Do you make it to shopping
town? Wondering if I'll spot you leaving from Hawthorn..hippy

Hey Tony!
youre mate Steve. did he by chance do the alpine classic a few years ago? -
Hi guys, just wanted to say thanx for an unforgettable trip. I just loved it, hills, up and down. Great, nice views, and good company.
I have some stats about the trip from hr monitor if you are interested:
Temp, start 11, end 15.
Total ascent, 695 meters.
Speed: First big hill, 83 km/h, second big hill, 75.4 km/h
Steepest hill, roughly 8% average. I think, hard to see in the graph.Anyway, before this trip I had been over 65 but not over 70, I beat that well and truly. Now, next trip we'll have to aim for 85 km/h ๐
Cheers, see you in two weekends, gone in HK this coming weekend.

Anyway, before this trip I had been over 65 but not over 70, I beat that well and truly. Now, next trip we'll have to aim for 85 km/h ๐After the race on Sat we hit a big hill on (I think) North Rd. way out east,
near Stud Rd. maybe? Hit 79kph. With favourable wind and NOT having 4hrs
riding plus a crit under the belt beforehand it could be a good speed run.
It's straight and clear too - no corners or anything to worry about. I'm sure
some of you would have ridden it before... ?hippy

This one is good, I only pedalled up to 50 55 km/h, then just went aero and free wheeled. Good stuff.

If it was North Rd, (or Wellington Road), you would have just passed the old VFL park and then plunged down hill and hope for a green light half way down. OTOH, if you were on Ferntree Gully Road, it is a very steep hill, 80k zone and curves gently to the left at the runout. The two roads run parallel and cross Jells Road before going downhill. The latter hill was my highest speed (85k) on a Kmart hybrid (of all things)
