BR(x) route

I rode around some of those round abouts yesterday while on a sufferfest with 'bernsteins'. My opinion, come on tim!! They're not that slippery and it was raining!! There is no excuse

Having said that I'm going to stack it tomorrow!

I'd forgotten that Tim had sampled so many of the roundabouts 'up close'. However, the roundabout near Hurstbridge _was_ slippery last Sunday, maybe it was the dew, or oil, or diesel... Anyway, it almost took me out and (as we all found out later) claimed Tim as well...

And it was diesel that time -- geez, I noticed with the light rain
this morning just how much diesel is on the roads of my commute. Took
it *real* easy.

That, or I was just completely unfit and was feeling as tired as a
.... I dunno, a civil servant?

What does BR stand for?? Don't tell me it's for Bike Ride, I'll be soooooo disappointed...

In the early days we did try and come up with a better name but BR
stuck. Our Qld (LA) brethren are much better at coming up with bunch
ride names.

The roundabout that I nearly came to grief on was the one as you come down
the hill from Diamond Creek and turn right towards Greensborough. That was
my first ride on the Eddy Merckx and the rear wheel slid way out to the left
before it finally gripped and I nearly "high sided" it. The tyres that came
with the bike were Conti GP 3000 and were only 20mm wide. Although they are
still pretty new I took them off and replaced them with GP4000 in 23mm and I
haven't had any problems since. I run 23mm tyres on all of my roadies now
and I don't know what I was thinking back in the mid 90s when I was doing
triathlons and used to run 18mm tyres and wonder why I always used to get
flat tyres.......from memory one of my mates convinced me that skinnier
tyres had less rolling resistance.......oh to be young and gullible today.
