BR Australia day?

I'll be clocking some k's, flat stuff though .. I'm done with hills
'til next year 🙂

Not sure where yet, probably head down to Mornington & back or
something, via the edithvale velodrone to do some intervals.

Well Euan and I are riding from Cafe Racer to Aspy... and maybe points
south. Speed depends largely on who else comes. If its the girls we
will take it a bit easy, they are improving but it will take a bit.

Will be an early start, and will involve coffee at some point. You
are of course welcome

Dave, EuanB and I are meeting at Cafe Racer in St Kilda at 7am on Australia Day for a ride to Aspendale and back. I guess average speed will be about 30km/h but I'm not that fast yet.

I wanna do some hills! Okay, need to... I'm doing the high country
cycle challenge in March so I need some training in the hills. Might
have to try cycling up to Kinglake for the first time.

and sports drink, rested and sat in the shade

Getting icy cold water is half the battle though. On that tour I did,
where 3 out of 4 days were 35°, 1 hour after every fill up, the water
would be luke warm. Not very refreshing.

That's an interesting way to spell "sprinted like a [censored] on a very

will be riding at 7am ... also probably sub 40 at that time, at a
guess.

Provided it doesn't turn in to another multiple coffee shop / stop off
for an hour at the in-laws we should be in before midday :-)

You might want to give that area a wide berth at the moment. Kinglake,
Kinglake East and Toolangi currently have ember attack alerts and the
smoke to the south of the fire is pretty thick in the air especially
first up in the morning (not good for those cycling lungs). I would
not advise anyone to attempt riding the BR route tomorrow. Leave the
roads around there for the emergency vehicles that need to be there.
Whittlesea is the emergency evacuation centre so there is also likely
to be heavier than normal traffic in the Humevale area as well. For
currrent information on this and the nearby Glenburn fire check the cfa

levels in the air at the moment I'm going to give it a miss. I'll be
heading down to race at DISC in the evening. Hopefully it's not as hot
as it was in there last sunday arvo. Riding around at the top of the
bends I could feel the heat from the roof cooking the back of my neck.

I did the short BR route to K Ground and then back via Eltham. Left at
6:30am to avoid the heat and there were plenty of other cyclists out
there thinking the same thing. I didn't smell any smoke but am quite
happy to use poor air as an excuse for the woeful stats for the ride. I
can't believe how much fitness I've lost in the past few weeks.

I was pretty supprised at the lack of smoke at my place this morning
too considering the amount we've had the last two mornings. Maybe it's
being pushed more to the south east this morning. It's definately in
the air even if you cant smell it - my asthma keeps reminding me of
that!

road to Research. Then back to Kangaroo Ground and home via Elthan. The

heh. It was only just below 40 at 10:30am (in the sun) riding back
from Edithvale along Springvale Rd. That change was nice in the arvo
out here in Deep Suburbia 🙂

I think we drove through some of it on our way to the movies... so probably drove right past it hehehe Was still hot at 10 pm tho when we got back......
