So who's in for another spin around the outer north eastern burbs (Melbourne)?
I, for one, intend to be there. Looks like it's going to be a nice day.

Where and when is this happening? And what sort of route/distance/pace does it tend to be?

Look up Sunday at 7:20 am and you'll get a good description of the ride including map with route options.

Yeah that was me. That's a great course for training. I've used it for interval training in the past. Well, actually only on two occasions because it hurts so much.

Ahh. Looks...hilly. I may have a shiny new bike, but I've only been riding for about 8 months, and for most of that only about 50-100km per WEEK. I'm not sure that I could maintain 25kph over 60-70 km, but I'd be interested to try. I seem to recall that there's some allowance made for slowpoke noobs, but how much? I cover Oakleigh-Knox City (~20km) in about 55 mins on the MTB. No idea how much quicker I am on the new bike. That 20km each way was my 5 day/week commute for the last couple of months.

only one way to find out!
all kinds of paces make up our bunch and ups-downs are done at basically one speed, your own! We wait/catch up at the top-bits

This sounds like the sort of bunch I really need to get off my butt and join sometime. I will eventually, honest, because it sounds good. 🙂 I'm none too speedy over long distances (I can keep average of 40 or so for about 15 minutes, but after that, it's all downhill... :p) but I could probably manage an average of 25 over 60k's. I'm finished with school, homework and all that stuff (for 2.5 months!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! 😄), so I reckon I'll be able to join you one Sunday. Not for the next 3 weeks, but very possibly after that every once in a while. 🙂

You should be able to keep up no probs, I had not been on a bike for over five years, then out six times before going and I had a blast. It is seriously good fun, good people. My only prob is that I might be going to barbie tonight, hope it rains, so I might or might not show up. Hmm, I have an idea here. If you guys wait for me, I will wait until a motorbike comes along before the first big downhill. Stop him, ask him if he can draft after him, telling him to aim for 100k. He he.

Damnation...this will happen at some point, but I'm out late tonight and finish in Footscray. This wouldn't be a prolem if I could catch a train out to Box Hill, but trains don't run that early on a Sunday. Arses. Ok, when's BR23? I'll make note of it and possibly ride some distances of more than 30-35km at a shot, which it about the most I've been doing.

Don't worry if you can't make it Resound. The bunch meets every week at 7:20 am so you can come next week if you want to. As Dutchy said, there are riders with varying levels of fitness and abilities and we all wait for the slower riders. It's a good social ride. I particularly like stopping at the bakery 😄.

No I think you should do your crit trainign immediately before the BR.

Ahh, I wasn't sure if it was every week or not. I'll make sure I'm at home next week. Still a fair way to go before I even start the ride though...Oakleigh to Doncaster 🙂 It'll be good for me...build character or something.

was almost, but not quite, entirely unlike tea:

After the GVBR, I'll possibly join in, and since I am from Chadstone,
perhaps we can ride in together?

Hey, works for me. I've been riding solo all this time, although I did manage to tag onto the back of a couple of guys this afternoon, which meant I was moving a bit faster than I would have otherwise. Riding in to Doncaster with someone else will make getting up that early that bit more bearable. I'll want to find breakfast on the way though. Something highly calorific and reprehensibly unhealthy like Maccas. That ought to stoke the boilers. I am open to suggestions in that regard though.
[edit] When's the GVBR? Not that I have a hope in hell of making that this year.

Bugger. I'm currently having my brain turned to mush by the VCE exams I'm
marking. With 170-odd to do at about six an hour I really need the four
hours the BR has been lately. Yeah, I know I could cut it short, but I will
be grading as soon as I wake up, I think.
Y'all have fun.

why wait?
Mine have been lubed to within an inch of their lives, so if there's any squeak this time Im dismounting and tossing the bike as far as I can!
That'll fix it for sure!
