  1. Anyone wanting to go up to Kinglake this sunday?

I've got an alteria motive[1] -- I want to drop in on someone along
the way to pick up my first freecycle swap. ๐Ÿ™‚

But I get lonely if I have to ride back to Melbourne by myself ๐Ÿ™

[1] Brain fart, I can't work out how to spell alteria.

I am soooooo glad I didn't say yes to that. I went out at normal time
this morning and wasn't surprised to see nobody else at the start point,
so headed off on the ITT. The last two weeks have involved some fairly
solid training for me with the first duathlon of the season next week,
and yesterday I did a run/bike/run session at race pace just to see how
I was tracking. I didn't feel too bad this morning when I set off, but
when I hit the first hill I discovered somebody had swiped my legs and
    they never came back.

    Here's my summary of hopelessness:
    - Every hill involved granny gears.
    - Even on the flat I could barely get cadence above 80
    - Warrandyte climb took me 21 mins 10sec (my slowest time ever)
    - Turned for home at Wattle Glen turnoff (that couple of km's of
downhill was very welcome at that point)
    - Stats: Distance = 50km (Floyd Landis look out), Avg cadence=75, Avg
    speed = err ... embarassed cough ... 22.5kmh ๐Ÿ™

Let that be a lesson to me, there are some training sessions that should
not be done the day before (what is supposed to be) a long ride.

  5. I am so envious of your BR rides. I am back in Sweden now and I am just beginning to get over my "knee" problem, so I have now had three pain free rides pretty much. Anyhow, now there is a new skill needed. I have one semi big slope on my "round" so get up to 65k with no superhuman effort, 70 k is goal when fit, but they have placed a speedbump made from cobblestones at the bottom of the hill, so a bit of paris roubaix involved. You need to brake somewhat hard, I take the bump at around 45 k, with a small bunnyhopp to take some weight off, it works. ๐Ÿ™‚
At least it is summer here.

I'm in training as well, so I went on an ITT to Sunbury-Gisborne-Melton-home. The headwind on the way out was hard work, but the plunge downhill and downwind to Melton was fun... the isolated rainstorm just afterwards wasn't!

What ya training for Ritcho? Duathlon or tri? If it's the duathlon will
you be at Knox this weekend?

Training for Gold Coast half IM in October... I wouldn't mind the odd duathlon before then, but it won't be this weekend 'cos I'm going to Bali for a day (yes a day - for work... not happy)

Maybe a road race would be fun as well (so much racing to do, so little time!)
