Im saying that the motivation isnt all about the free stuff.. but not
everyone has the $$$ to always vbuy new stuff when they break it.. and
it's hard ot enjoey it when u dont ahve a uni right ?

afford all your Muni projects+college+a car +whatever else without
sponsor ? if so then you either have a crazy job or your aprents pay

like lots of other people in this thread i dont think profile would be
likely to sponsor unicyclists because it is a bike company (although
the comment about norco raises an interesting point). if profile
replaced broken cranks like they usually do then what would be the
point of being sponsored by them?

i am sponsored by udc australia. i am by no means better than you guys,
but it was a combination of luck and the fact that there arent too many
unicyclists where i live. despite this, i dont ride to get sponsored or
anything, although it is helpful when buying new equipment. i ride for
my own enjoyment, and not to make money or anything. sponsorshi is only
really important if you make a living out of what you do, which is not
gonna happen with unicycling.

so instead of sitting there complaining, go out and improve your
riding, so then if it really matters to you, you will have a better
chance of being sponsored.

Fair enough, there's a difference between replacing broken parts and
sponsorships though. Were you asking me if I'm sponsored or someone
else? I'm nowhere near good enough to be sponsored! Luckily, Gary of
www.unicycles.com.au has been nice enough to always replace broken
parts.

yeah, i normally sort all my stuff out about my kh with Guy from
unicycle.au.com, hes a great bloke and has already fixed up my hub and
replaced my seat post clamp 🙂

Onza have sponsored a bunch of people, Simon thingummy is Onza
sponsored, that's why he was riding their prototype, I think Joe Baxter
and Trevor or someone like that were sponsored to test those unicycles
too.

Unicycle.com sponsor people for sure, it's just in a more low key way
than 'hey kids you can jump off big things here's some free parts'. I
seem to remember Roger putting money towards race entry fees for
Mountain Mayhem, cooking pasta for the other riders, giving people free
shirts, and generally helping out. They've done things like next-daying
stuff cos I needed it for a race and making sure that stuff I needed
was priority if there's an event coming up. Also I think the Onza
sponsorship stuff is done in partnership with them too.

If you can't afford parts, get a job, that's how you get new cranks,
the same as anyone else, even sponsored people (except people doing
product testing) almost certainly have to pay for parts they snap, they
just get them a bit cheaper sometimes.

Okay, I think I finally get it. I think you're trying to say that
certain top riders deserve someone to replace their broken equipment
for them. Is that the line of logic? Doesn't sound like much of a
business proposition to me.

Janis Joplin was seen by millions of fans, and probably had sold
millions of dollars worth of records. One fur coat? Probably a worthy
investment. Which of us, after Kris Holm, gets seen by the most people?
How many fans does this person have *who know his/her name*? Until
those numbers are larger, a great deal of sponsoring riders is pure
charity. These businesses owe riders nothing.

Max,

Do you really believe that Profile is making millions selling cranks
and hubs? Also the unicycle hub and crank that they make is most like
less the 1% of there business. Most likely they are making the crank
and hub to try to make more unicycle parts available to guys like you
to help increase awareness for the sport. Most unicycle companies are
part of a bigger company and would not be able to survive on their own.

Also your attitude does not make me want to sponser riders even if you
are not the one that wants to be sponsered. Coments like "stfu and die
plz" does not make companies want to throw money to a rider.
