Box on rack

The Halfords Box requires a Halfords Rack (not actually a bad thing
since the "Massload" rack is quite simply the best and most adjustable
rack I have ever used). The rack will set you back a further 20 quid
or so.

The box does NOT lock to the rack.

Something which, I imagine, could be rectified with a drill, a couple of
metal strips and a handful of nuts and bolts...

The Lidl box I have is sort of locked to the rack. It is screwed down on to the
rack with the screw fixings inside the rack box, so once it's on the bike, it
would take someone determined to remove it from the rack - it would take hassle
& a bit of time, so is probably enough of a deterrent to keep it safe from
opportunist thieves. Certainly I've never had my box interfered with....

I have a plastic toolbox from Halfords, £4.99 that would make an ideal
budget rack top box. It can be locked with a padlock and could be fitted
with a metal strip bolted to the bottom with the rack spars in between.
With a bit more ingineuity a QR clip could be devised and since the box
already has a handle would make it easy to take with you,
