bowflex selecttech dumbbells

grip is a little weird, not bad, just different.

I like my olympic sized dumbbell handles. 10 pounds each and I can add
my oly plates to it. About $35.00 for the handles and maybe extra cost
for some extra 10 and 5 pound plates.

pros:

Takes up the room of only one set of dumbbells

Can be loaded with a lot more weight than 52.5lbs

Helluva lot cheaper if you already own an olympic weight set

If you don't own an oly weight set, you can get a 300lb set, the
dumbbells and some extra plates for the dumbbells for less than the
bowflex dumbbells themselves.

cons:

I wouldn't drop these on the floor either (while loaded). You might
break your floor and maybe your foot.

They have the 5# so your wife will let you buy them (;-)

I've got a set, but i bought them under the Nautilus name and they were a
bit cheaper than this. Didn't opt for the stand.

I really like them, but you do have to be careful with them (like you said,
no dropping). you get used to the handle really quickly, but some exercises
such as a overhead tri extension still feels awkward. and, when fully
loaded, they have a bit more circumference than some other DBs.

I bought them for the quick changeover and space savings and i'm pleased
with them.
