Bottle cage mounted toolkits & capsules

Saw something like that in Asda - looks like a bottle, fits in the bottle
cage, opens length-wise to reveal a toolkit in those blow-moulded
holder-compartment thingies. Don't know if it seals, but might be worth
checking out.

Just get a wide mouthed normal bottle and jam as much as you can into
it. Multi-tool, tubes, spanners, etc etc

Argos had/have one something like that (with some tools included).

BBB make a "Tool Can" 13cm tall bottle with a full-width screw top at the
top, but you wouldn't be able to fit all your stuff in it unless your have
the smallest tube, phone and jacket in the world. Funnily enough I just
won one off eBay despite hardly ever having a need for it (well, I
couldn't resist @ £1). Call me barking mad but I usually prefer to use my
bottle cages for water bottles ;-)

Aha! - just what I was thinking off. Thank you very much. I find that I
prefer a Platy or Camelbak for fluids nowadays, so I was thinking that I
might as well use bottle cages for something!

BTW, I don't mean it's a tall bottle, I mean it's 13 cm tall, which is
pretty short :-(

In true cycling cheapskate-stylee, Vernon found a white plastic container
(cylindrical) with a clip-on lid that had previously contained some
household substance (can't remember what, it's been in use as tool-kit for a
year now), washed it out, dried it and it is now the holder of emergency
spares that Nathan has on his bike for his college commute. It works well,
keeps stuff dry, and fits in a bottle cage. So I suggest you have a look at
what you've got lying about the house that may be suitable.

I got an excellent large-diameter (circa 100mm) thing from Waitrose (in
their "tuppaware" section, not bikes). It helps that my plastic bottle
cages will stretch to fit a good-sized mineral water or pop bottle. I
previously bought a wide-mouthed water bottle for the purpose, but it
wasn't any good. I also bought a specially designed container which was
conventional bike-bottle sized - but it was too small for even basic
stuff (tube, allen keys etc)
