boston marathon tv coverage

It's usually an issue of $$$$. Maybe ESPN wants more money and the BAA
said no. OLN may be cheaper albeit less public penetration. This is the
day and age of greed, just look at the gas pumps. We are paying the
increase in gas for oil that still sits on OPEC docks. Boy are we
getting screwed!! Let's tell Dubya about this! Wait, they paid for his
re-election so I guess we are in it for the long $$haul$$$. Grab yur
ankles, here it comes!

Don't the networks pay the event organizers for the rights to provide
coverage, use footage, etc? Then the networks sell commercials to
recoup some of the cost. That's how it works in other sports.

No disagreement about gas prices although the SUVs and pickup trucks
still outnumber the compacts on the freeway during rush hour.

Awesome! I didn't know this. I don't get ESPN, but OLN is part
of my regular cable selection.

we are total screwed.
$2.55 to fill up a gllon gas can yesterday to till the driveway hilly
parts.
took a little gas.
been since the fall late the last time I bought a gallon.

A bike and 10¢ cans and the wilds is all I need.
I miss work and a paycheck. been since nov 8 2002. and nio unemployment

Actually, in many cases, it's the exact opposite. The event pays the
network to broadcast it and they (the event organizers) sell the
commercial time to recoup their cost.

It all depends on the popularity of the event. The networks pay for
the broadcast rights to the NFL. DogWorld pays ESPN to be on.

I'm guessing that the Boston Marathon is not a biggie, but are still
paid for broadcast rights. It's probably not a large amount (in
broadcast terms) and OLN simply outbid them.

Just a guess, though.
