I agree but how on earth can he ever perform better than this year? He
will never win a major tour. He should be able to make some progress
in the more hilly classics. And he could take revenge for the bad luck
during his pursuit of green jersey this year. Maybe riding a few days
in yellow someday. But that's it.

He's yet to turn 25 but he already has a career where 90% of the
peloton is jealous of or can only dream of.

Makes me wonder how special real champions are who keep on giving their
best year after year when they've already reached so much.

Boonen has said that he doesn't think he'll be racing as long as Museeuw or
Tafi because he became the team leader at a much younger age than they.

Yesterday on Belgian TV, co-rider and best friend Kevin Hulsmans on the
other hand said that Boonen will still be riding for a very long time
if he keeps performing the way he does. Only time will tell of course.

the put a lot more importance on the world championship than other
nations. that's a contibuting factor.
