Hello,

For a book about cycling that only has a chapter on maintenance but is
brilliantly written, try "Richard's 21st century bicycle book" by Richard
Ballantine. Not a huge lot of information, but very well written and
covers all you need to know to do very basic jobs.
Also look at Sheldon Brown's website

he has excellent articles about all kinds of bike jobs.
You might also want to check out Park Tool USA's website (am I the only
person who finds that funny?)

Sheldon/Park Tools have it all really, but if you really must buy a real
life book for sitting on the lav with, may I humbly recommend Howard Zinn's
"Zinn and the Art of Road Bike Maintenance". Up to date, interesting, large
format - loverly! I understand he does another one for MTB's too, but I have
not seen that.

I have Zinn's mountain bike book and can wholeheartedly recommend it.
Great illustrations, great detail, and covers a lot of recent and
obscure gear as well as more mainstream stuff.

I've got the Haynes Bike Book, which does me fine. Zinn And The Art Of
Road Bike Maintenance is for the more serious minded.

Not good. Where do you live? If you're in London, branches of Evans
usually stock the above mentioned books.
