  1. A few years ago when I browsed the "Running" shelves at a bookstore, I
picked up a book (IIRC a paperback) which may or may not have been
titled something like "50 or 100 Best of Favorite Runs or Running
Workouts". These ranged from Zatopek's 100s to workouts special to more
recent tempo runs. IIRC one session was described on each double page
with a personal comment by US runners or coaches at elite, college or
    masters level.

A small amount of inept googling turned up no clue to follow and an
inquiry at the store was equally fruitless. Can anyone help a man in
search of the perfect Christmas gift?:-)

    Depending upon your recipient.
    It's on Twittering's Top 10 list.

    I sincerely hope that helps."

Almost certainly! Do you own it or are you simply so much better at
    googling than I am?

BTW it won't be for me, I was asking on behalf of the wife of a
self-coached sub-2:50 marathoner. My first tips were Daniels,
Pfitzinger, Noakes and Janssen, but he's got those and apparently he
doesn't need any more gear that he doesn't prefer buying himself.

PS other book tips would be welcome, too.

i read it, it's quite interesting as he proposes all kinds of
'favorites' workouts from famous and not-so-famous (at least to me)
runners classified in chapters like 'endurance runs', 'track', 'LT' and
    so on.

I would have thought of the same ones as you did but you may add this one :
Better training for distance Distance Runners from Martin/Coe

OTOH the title of the book might not be appropriate for a gift to a good
    marathoner ;op

    Anders,

You may have found it already. If not:

Go to http://www.abe.com (book dealers co-op) and put in Sandrock
    and/or Running Tough.

Came up with 19 results from US$8.49 to US$23.59 from bookseller in UK.
