One other thing you should investigate is whether replacement rims and
spokes are available and how much. I know that a replacement rim for a
Mavic Kyserium (sp?) is like $150+ each; Campy Neutron/Eurus is more!
(try something like $180-220 each!!!) Replacement spokes on those
wheels are also proprietary and expensive.

So you also need to ask, if it breaks, will it be expensive to
repair?....

I weigh 190 lbs and have been riding on a set of Bontrager Race disc wheels
for about a year. In that time the wheels are still almost perfectly true,
but I ride full suspension, so the wheels don't take quite the beating they
would on a hard tail. It's my understanding that the race lites are almost
the same wheels with just a little weight trimmed off, so you should be
fine.

I have a set of Race X-Lites and I've dished out quite a bit of abuse on
them. I ride some very rough back-country roads. I only weigh 160, but I
ride with plenty of folks who are larger and who ride Race X-lites. The LBS
in my neck of the woods has been selling them like crazy it would seem. I
haven't heard of or witnessed any problems with them whatsoever. And it's
always been my experience that Trek stands behind the products it sells if
you ever do have a problem.

Also, as wheels go these days, the Race X-lites aren't all that lite. I
don't think you have anything to worry about.

I just built a bike yesterday, all the stuff brought in by a customer and I was
horrified as to how poorly these supplied wheels were built. Not true, round or
dished. If their build quality is any indication, i would stay away. Even if
they were perfect, I think you would be better off with a good wheelset
designed specifically for you, build by a good wheelbuilder.
