Ok, I really like the marz 03 Marathon S, that I have been riding since last fall. Yeah, the wipers
can use a little silicon and stanchion cleaning.
But when it got really hot last month, I neglected to slip a little lube under the dust wipers.
The adventure of the day was to replace the wipers, seals and oil...a routine matter. Hmmm, these
wipers seem awfully tight....hmmmm, maybe a little more prying and Oh [censored]. So whats a little tear
in a wiper? Well, it turns out these babies are melted (!) into the retaining slot and won't budge.
I tried lube, careful prying, careful digging and even not so careful digging. Little chunks
of rubber.
It makes a grown man cry to see a fork go down to such misuse.
Now I am off to my LBS for more help, but suspect that the Marz techs will be looking at
this one soon.
The main issue is that the great fall rides are just starting and I am out of commission.
Anyone have problems with melted wipers before? I haven't.
