  1. The kids and I were messing around with the digital camera the other day and
my son snapped this shot. I was a bit shocked when I saw it.

    http://maximizesoftware.com/images/Larry%20imbalance%203-25-05.JPG

What is obvious is that my left side is a lot more developed than my right.
Trap, lat, delt, tri and bicep. In fact, it appears my left delt is 15 -
20mm higher. Now before you recommend having more sex with my right side, I
try to incorporate both hands. However, you might say my Shania side is
    larger.

My right, even though smaller and less developed is my stronger side. Yes,
I'm right handed. And I have since talked to my doctor about this, but he
has no input. He did suggest an MRI, which I'll be getting later this week.
Could a pinched nerve produce this? Any advice on how to balance it out?
    Any similar experiences?

Any input, other than masturbatory advice, would be appreciated.

Have you taken measurements? This could be explained by angles....it could
    all be an optical illusion.

My thought too. Looks to me you might have one shoulder higher than the
other but I'm not sure the arm or delt are really bigger. Measure your bi's
on both sides. Maybe a little spinal curvature?

Whoa! I wouldn't have noticed any imbalance unless you pointed it out.
Life is rarely symmetrical and I wouldn't be too concerned. I'm
surprised your insurance OK'ed an MRI. Do you have any symptoms that
this "imbalance" is causing you? If not, I'd leave things alone.

I think it's related to that large, black tumor on your head.

The hypertrophy discrepancy hasn't been this bad. It's happened since my
car wreck Feb 4th. I've looked at other pics from last summer, and I don't
have this. So, the insurance related to the wreck is covering it.

And it isn't just the angle of the photo. Everybody can see it now that I
point it out. But, to be scientific about it, I really need to get
measurements. However, that will only work for arms.

The only other lifestyle change is that I've been cutting since the end of
Dec and am down 10 lbs.

Please keep in mind that if you're not a bodybuilder or something,
having asymetries in your body is not uncommon. My right side is far
stronger than my left side and you can see the difference in size in my
left right arm and left arms. Of course, my right side is stronger and
larger (arms anywho) and not reversed like in your case.

Sorry to hear about the car wreck - I was in one 20 years ago and I'm
not sure which was worse, the sore neck or having to deal with insurance
    adjusters.

Are you doing any one-arm or one-leg lifting? Great stuff and a great
way to deal with imbalances, perceived or otherwise. Work the weak side
first, stay tight, and do the same sets and reps for both sides.
    One-arm Arnold presses, one-legged DL's ans SQ's.

But I'd still like to ask the question - other than what you see in
pictures, do you have any symptoms of this imbalance?

Years ago, my aunt worked for an insurance company in the fraud
division. I asked her what the most outrageous case she had heard of.
Without hesitating she told me of a woman that had been in a car
accident and every morning before her husband went to work, he would
give her a swift kick in the lower back. Even the private eye was
shocked. This would have had to have been in the 1960s as she worked
at 3M for nearly 40 years before she retired.

Everyone has some degree of assymetry; it's natural. Some of mine may
be due to injury on one side or the other. You learn to compensate in
performing bilateral movements. It may help to concentrate work on one
side, but in my experience and from observing others, that rarely
    "evens things out."

I think it's best to continue doing bilateral movements. It forces the
weak side to "catch up" with the stronger side; otherwise, you cannot
    complete the movement.

    exercises?

Just got back from my MRI. We'll see what the doc comes up with.

What is obvious is that my left side is a lot more developed than my
    right.

I think it's related to that large, black tumor on your head.

I think it's related to Larry's usage of Nair.

We are trying to forget that ordeal aren't we??

Now you sound like my ex....

Seriously though, no issues like this for you John? Any ideas on
    how to balance it?

Everyone has some degree of assymetry; it's natural. Some of mine may
be due to injury on one side or the other. You learn to compensate in
performing bilateral movements. It may help to concentrate work on
one side, but in my experience and from observing others, that rarely
    "evens things out."

I think it's best to continue doing bilateral movements. It forces
the weak side to "catch up" with the stronger side; otherwise, you
    cannot complete the movement.

What are bilateral movements? Independent of one another, as in DB
    exercises?

Just got back from my MRI. We'll see what the doc comes up with.

Here's to hoping you're just wonky, and that there's nothing else behind
it. I hate waiting for MRI results, but then again, mine are always
    horrendous.

    Cheers,

    Ari

I'm going to die rather sooner than I'd like. I tried to protect my
neighbours from crime, and became the victim of it. Complications in
hospital following this resulted in a serious illness. I now need a bone
marrow transplant. Many people around the world are waiting for a marrow
transplant, too. Please volunteer to be a marrow donor:
