I went over the 'Green Bridge' yesterday for the first time - poor signage as previously mentioned, but one thing I did NOT see was anything remotely 'green' about it. A vast concrete & steel ediface glaring at me in the morning sun.
Somehow I expected (like in Singapore) graceful vines growing along it, or at least the odd planting. Nothing, nada. I know the _real_ reason it's called (or not called) the Green Bridge, but in my mind I'd expected some greenery around there, somewhere. After all, our climate in this state is perfect for something like that.
A classic example of the dream not being followed by it's reality ....
But a great shortcut for an LA ride if you just can't get going on a winter's morning 🙂

In Australia (Brisbane in particular), we are not in the habit of building beautiful structures with ugly concrete structures being the preferred alternative. Take the Good Will Bridge - an extremely useful bridge, but fsck me dead that bridge is ugly. I didn't expect great things from the 'Green' Bridge, which is actually called the Eleanor Schonnell Bridge anyway.
Whilst I agree that some greenery on the bridge would improve the look of the bridge significantly, the lack thereof is probably related to current water restrictions in place in Brisbane.
