Looks like that works. Nice pic. I'd love to get a picture of myself racing. Maybe climbing a mountain or taking a corner in a crit. I've never seen how I look when I race before.

the photography fairies always seem to throw rouge makeup and water all over me, rendering me into a dripping, puffing mess.
Got 2 pics of me looking stuffed going up Falls in the AlpineClassic which somehow make me look like a fat b@stard! :-)

Jazmo, there may be a pic of you as there seems to be regualrs taking pics at Kew (just after the turn)...

    That can be arranged...
Let me know where are you racing for the next 12 months
and I'm sure I will not be racing at least one of them. ๐Ÿ™‚
That's when the camera comes out.
I'd like to take some shots at Glenvale or METEC but I'm
    always racing them.
There were a few people taking photos at Glenvale on
Sunday. Maybe you could rock up there and smile a lot? ๐Ÿ™‚

P.S. Who is "bluenose"? Did someone get a little too cold?

Yep. I'll skip on the suffering bit tho.
What happens when the season ends?
Do you go onto other stuff (or perhaps that winter calendar hipsta posted...)

    G'day 'dutch,

waddya mean the seasons over!!!!!.....man..road season is just about to begin!!. What club are you with?. If it is one of the 'Northern combine' clubs, we have a huge road racing season beginning toward the end of April, that goes right through until the end of October. Every saturday arvo....good racing...good people. Normally 4 grades. Its alot more interesting than this 'round in circles' stuff!.,

    cheers,

    Hitchy

    begin? really??

Im with Hawthorn but havent really followed anything up other than the Wednesday nights (rode past Kew on the way home and saw racing going on. it was a coburg-hosted Vets race. If I had been on the roady I woulda jumped on so some older guys could whip my butt!)

Read on the HCC site that they have just become part of the northern combines

You mean you can around in other shapes too? say it isnt so.
    Is there details/calendar somewhere?

Yep, road racing is really a winter sport here. The crits for
a lot of people are "off season". For me though it's really
    the other way around.

The one I posted is the most comprehensive I've seen so
far, but most clubs will be posting their own details to
    their own websites soon.
April 17th is the first road race that I know of at Lang Lang.

Most road races around Melbourne tend to involve hills, so
the strong climbers really shine. Country Vic races tend to
be flat handicaps where working together to stay in front
of the riders behind you is most important (unless you are
off scratch, i.e. racing the full distance, in which case your
job is to catch everyone else).

Here are some course maps from BBN:

Yep, I'm intending to ride the road season this year. I'm aiming to be competitive in 'C' grade in the Tour of the Yarra Valley this year.

wont your bike get wet/dirty? ;-)

would it be wrong to glad-wrap your bike :-)

How hard is this stuff compared to the crit bizzo?

    Yes.

    No. Freak. ;-)

Personally, I would say harder. For starters, it's usually
in crappy weather. Then it's up and down hills. Up hills for
a big dude like me is pure hell - gimme a straight downhill
any day. Also, growing up in a flat, dry town doesn't help
    my wet/downhill cornering skills!
The races are longer too. I guess "proper" road races count
on having more skills. Things like breakaways are totally
different - you are not on a course where you can watch
the break go. They might go up or down a hill and you'll
have no idea how fast they are getting away.
Tactics are different, skills are different, weather is different.
