Could it be the spokes and not the wheel? Has your wheel been trued recently and are you heavy/do you ride on really bad roads?

Can't go wrong with a fine set of Mavic Open Pros. They're cheap, durable (make sure they're trued properly), and can weigh less than some of the fancy expensive wheels.

What country are you in?
What component system (Shimano or Campagnolo)?
What size tires do you use?
What bicycle do you ride?
What are your exisiting wheels?

Why upgrade? Hub is shot, rim is shot. If neither is the case, then look at spokes.

Step 1 - determine if you really need to upgrade by stress relieving the spokes. The process is simple: put on a pair of gardening gloves and squeeze pairs of spokes (on the same side, including the replacement spokes) as hard as you can - really, really hard. Do this for all pairs on both sides of the wheel. This simple step extends the life of spokes by reducing the incidence of fatigue failures. Some people advocate other ways to stress relieve, but this works for me 'cos I have a pair of gardening gloves...

Step 2 - if, in the process, you break more spokes, then replace and stress relieve.

Total cost - you're on budget - zero if no spokes break, or a few bucks if some spokes break. At least try this before plonking down $$$ for new wheels.

I have since been to my local shop and they have suggested respoking the wheel this will cost about £40 per wheel, so I will be looking to buy som Mavic Open Pro.
