blood sugar measures

  1. i am a late 30s male living in greater manchester england my
    recent blood testgave me a fig of 6.7 which the nurse said
    was borderline but at risk ive had a second test today. ive
    seen other measures of between 80 and 120 so how does this
    equate to my level 140?. my b.m.i is 32 and i have
    arthiritus. i look after people with learning dificulties

    To get numbers that equate to ours, multiply yours by 18.
    Your 6.7 would work out to about 120. Anything >110 is
    considered pre-diabetes. It is treated just as diabetes is
    treated, by testing your BG (blood glucose), taking diabetes
    meds if need be, watching your diet (especially the carbs),
    and exercise.

    The world outside the US measures BG in mmol / L , the US
    uses mg/DL...to convert multiply your reading by
    18...therefore your 6.7 = 120.6

    Was that reading a random or fasting reading ?

    You need to get this under control. I'd start by losing some
    weight. Get your BMI below 30.

  5. This is for fasting numbers only:

    Anything greater than 100 and under 126 is considered
    "prediabetes".

    If your fasting is over 125, it's diabetes.
