Just for anyone looking at Blackburn X6 lights, I bought a set a few months ago. Someone on here warned me about the battery life (I think his daughter had had two bad batteries out of three tested) so I made sure I could get the full 3.5hour runtime on full power.
I couldn't. Sent battery back after taking advice from supplier about cycling ('scuse pun) battery and they confirmed battery was bad. They then had problems with the replacement they were sent and had to return that one too. Finally they got one that seemed to work OK but when I tested it it turned out to be duff too.
I suspected the charger but it now appears that Blackburn have discontinued the current (no pun) X6 and will be bringing out a new model so I have sent the whole lot back.
Supplier (who deserves a mention for excellent communications and helpfulness - www.ukbikestore.co.uk) is going to swap my X6 for a Hope LED Li-ion front light which looks pretty good and has got some good reviews - http://www.ukbikestore.co.uk/acatalog/info%5fhope%5fled%5fbar%2ehtml

I wasn't too impressed with my X6 set either. The 3.5hr lifetime claim on full power is an out and out lie. It's closer to two. For me the lights aren't quite bright enough to illuminate the road comfortably enough to ride at a normal speed either, and one of the flimsy screw on power connectors cracked on day one (still works just might fall out more easily). Did some searching around on cycling NGs and found many similar reports (why didn't I do that first...)
Now I just use them as a backup (single flood on flash) to compliment a Lupine Edisoin 10 - that's an awesome light, probably better than some cars I've had, and worth every penny - batt. life up to 10hrs..Has turned my lengthy winter commute from a dread into a pleasure.
Also had a rear Blackburn Mars 3 light that I was impressed with (v.bright) until the thin mounting clip snapped after about a month. Can't say I'd recommend any Blackburn kit to anyone after that lot..

Yes I have had a Mars 3 for about 3 months now and it is impressively bright for £12. The weak clip is a concern.

I've had a Mars 3 on the tourer for a year now and have had no trouble with the clip. It is very good though, so good I bought a second one for the road bike a few weeks back. I bought an Electron Nano 1W LED jobbie too which is good but not as good as 5W/10W halogens. It is a hell of a lot lighter and smaller though.

Think I got into the habit of pushing the base up with my fingers to level the light, which probably pivoted around a stress point near the top. If you're careful and nice to it, it should be okay.
May you get more life out of yours than I did with mine (actually it's still going, I put it in the rear-mesh of my reflective waistcoat, unfortunately it usually rolls around points down to the ground or something, but hey - better than nothing)

'twas me. My set still gives full capacity. My daughter eventually got a set with a good battery, so is now pleased with them.
I wrote to Blackburn asking about it, they claimed there wasn't a problem, which was a bit strange, as Madison (the UK supplier) had no hesitation in replacing the sets/batteries i.e. a known problem so just do it and not hassle the customer
