One of the most obese men I'd ever seen approached me the
other day, saying, "when are you guys starting up your Wed
morning group rides?" I didn't even know the guy. I told
him I was already going out, and if he had a bike, come
join us, etc.
He said he used to ride in CA, and I finally got it out of
him that he was a roadie about 20 years and 200lbs ago. I
told him the learning curve of getting back int bike shape
was kinda painful on our hills, but if he wanted to go out
with us, give it a try. We're a friendly group, with every
skill and fitness level represented. Even room for maniacs
like the GMan.
He seemed sincere, so I was too. But he seemed to think all
he had to was throw a leg over and pedal.
I guess he's right. Why not? Even if he is 400lbs. Jabba the
Hut on wheels. Works for me. Hope it does for him.
