I got one in Barrington/Warren doing 32 in the 25 along the "bridges" section, if you remember that
stretch. That was in 1973, and I can't remember ever paying it. Was is the SOL on those?

Not one to apologize for traffic cops, but I can *sort of* see the reason for the law. A
track-stander is much more likely to lose his or her balance and get run over (or at least dent a
soccer mom's Hummer).

Of course, *I* can fall over trying to clip in and get started in these new-to-me slippery shoes!

Bill, I once got pulled over while riding my motorcycle for not putting a foot down at a stop sign.
I was headed up Mt Helix at the time, and the officer was right behind me. Given that I was going
uphill at the time, I argued with the officer (La Mesa PD) that I could have stopped, rolled
backwards a little bit, and then gone through the intersection without ever putting my foot down. I
also, I said, could have put my foot down (albeit briefly) at ten miles an hour and never stopped at
all. Considering, he let me go without a ticket.

Phil my man, a trip to district court is in your future - fight that ticket. Argue that
trackstanding is the direct equivalent of an automobile stop; putting your foot down would equate to
the vehicle being placed in park.

A stop is a stop, dude.

'complete stop'. i.e., wheels not moving.

The rangers prowl around El Corte de Madera (South of San Francisco) and nail people for going
faster than 15 MPH. Never gotten a ticket on my bike either on trail or on road (Knock on Wood).
I did have a CHP tell me over the bullhorn to ride in the broken glass instead of in the center
of the lane.

I got a speeding once. 23 in a 15. USAF Security Policewoman. I was dumbfounded that she would
actually take the time to write it up. And she had actually blipped my with the siren to get me to
pull over.

I keep kind-of hoping I'll get a ticket while bombing one of the canyon roads here. Road bike would
be cool, because I'll be doing something like 50 in a 30 zone. Mtb would be okay though. I'd frame
the sucker.

The ticket that we speak of, no. But my first ticket (fee waived by bike class) was at that
intersection, yes. I blew through it on my way to class and a cop on foot chased after me when I
arrived at the Chemistry Lab Building. I had no idea I had been caught until he said "Hey!" I was
really careful after that, but apparently not careful enough.

I see cars and the occasional bike there stopped very often.

In all seriousness, the bike ticket I had to pay was more expensive than the tuition for my
chemistry lab.
