Quoted message said:Before I head out to the local bike shop I need a few
suggestions on a bike.
I currently own a couple of hybrids and I'm thinking about
buying a road bike for longer rides. I want to keep the
cost under $1000 and I'm currently looking at the Trek
1200. Does anyone have suggestions for other road bikes in
the same price range? I've never owned a road bike so I
know nothing about them.
If it helps - I'm female, 61. I want something comfortable
and reliable.
I really like my Fuji Touring: Steel, 27sp, Deore/Tiagra,
STI, room for big tires, (but I run small ones), very
comfortable due to long wheelbase and handlebar height level
with the seat by default; threaded headset for easy
adjustability. $800 at my LBS (lists for $840).
Not as light as a more performance-oriented road bike would
be, though.
