Jan was seen throwing his Giant against the team van, Cipo complained about
his Specialized, and Boonen was seen stomping on his Colnalgo. Are the
bikes so light now, they border on the flaky? And to compound this error,
they're actually going to sell these same bikes to the fat Freds of the
world.

If this is all true ... which I don't doubt ... it could be spoiled riders
blaming their poor performance on the bike!! They take their frustrations
out on the bikes ... since they will not fight back and they can get a new
one in most cases. Watch a BMX session at a skatepark ... at least one kid
will huck his bike in frustration ... it's the same mentality.Light is good ... to a point ... the "fat Fred" who buys a sub 16 lb bike is
delusional anyway ... -

his bike in a ditch because he had flatted and there was no support.
According to the story, it made his appeal to Guimard even greater. What
about Riis with his Frisbee Bike in '97? -
How about Bjarni Riis tossing his $10,000 + TT machine in a ditch halfway through a time trial???

I saw him throwing his bike of a mountain once, and he was still on it too.

weight bikes are are just fine. It is probably just bikes that don't fit
well. In the past riders have just picked up their favorite bike and had
it painted their sponsors colors. Nowadays that isn't always so easy to
do. It is pretty easy to spot a non-compact frame when the sponsor only
sells compacts.

to show that sometimes even the pros get stuck with a POS bike.

I don't know, I like my Giant. I can't complain. But then again, I'm not
planning on riding the TdF anytime soon. Only the Red Rock loop and this
bike does that just fine.------

after, ..........it's just ok for the red rock loop. Was that the
progression? -

AlexI recall it was a rear flat, a somewhat slow change, then he dropped the
chain as he tried to take off in a huge gear (and the chain got hung up in
the tunnel in the frame that it went through - it was one of those strange
looking Pinnarellos that were all faired in). Result? 93rd place, 9:12 down.--
