Bike changes that won't break me!

@bill
Retard not directed to you mate!!

I overcame the lower back pain since drop bars. No more pain since hands support more weight and spine "flexes" better.

Neck never an issue.

Lost 5 pounds in two weeks due riding/eating ratio not ideal ... I am no nutritionist!!

Bike running fine and people asks questions. A person turned around while going the opposite direction yelling at me "please stop! I want to ask you a question!" last weekend. I notived that the said person was postrated in the stock bars that came with her mountain bike. She was on the tallish side and I let her ride my bike for a few minutes to see how the aero felt. She claimed that was going to install aero's over her regular bars that very same day.

@brandy
I am used to jump down to the drop bars without thinking now for shifting and braking. I was concerned about the brakes being a little far away from my hands, but planning a little ahead does not hurt I guess.
Shifting is not a problem either. Going uphill makes me place my hands on top of the bar - well, on the outside bend of the top of the bar - and shifting takes only a moment. It works for me. For sure someone can come up with a better setup than mine, but for the money I am sticking with it.
It will be a time in the future that I will have this bike for commuting and another one for riding hills. The only problem is that my commute IS mainly hills. Fortunately the up and downhill sections in the uptrip and downtrip are very similiar in steepness and duration, so the up and downtrip times are freakishly similar (47ish minutes either way as tested today on a test run)

The shocks really helps , and the 700x38c tires seem well balanced for the road conditions. All ripples in the pavement are taken care of by the shocks, and even falling of the road shoulder has yet to take a toll on my rims.

I admire the fact that you bike in ALASKA!!

My wife - airforce brat - lived there for 5 years and she keeps telling me the stories about how cold it was and how the moose showed up by the kitchen window!!

Haven't really paid any attention to my weight. For some weird reason or other it remains the same no matter what I eat or how often, the wife hates me for this!!!:D Funnily enough, I've been getting a few stares at my rig when I'm out. I seem to remember sometime back in the early 90's quite a few of the top MTB racers (John Tomac) used droppies on their mtbs. It fizzled out after a while for one reason or other, lack of control I think. Haven't really noticed it, but my rig seems to go in a straight line longer when I go LOOK MOM, NO HANDS style.

I don't think pic of my bike will be any time soon, haven't got a camera yet. Hopefully, it'll remain untrashed until then.

Bill.
