  1. Does anybody know where I can preferably hire or borrow a bike box for the last week in May.

    Any help greatly appreciated.

    Check out www.aircaddy.com I use this box when I travel to races. It's awesome!!! The cool thing is that its totally reusable too.

    Don't know where you are at, but several LBS in my area (Seattle) rent them.

    You might also check out www.crateworks.com

    You can also recycle a box from a new bike from your LBS, although it won't protect as well as the ones listed above it works fine for many people, that's what I do. I pack a few towels and such with the bike to help protect it and haven't had a problem the one time I shipped it out and back.

    I'm sorry I can't help with the box, but Bicycling Magazine's May 2005 issue has a detailed and illustrated article on boxing a bike for air shipment. I hope that this is helpful.

  6. Performance have their cases on special at the moment for 200 bucks. Not exactly a hire rate but if you're going to be doing this regularly may be worth considering.
